Floatation Therapy at Earth Energies Sanctuary
Free your body, mind and spirit
Free your body and mind from the daily pressures of life. At Earth Energies Sanctuary our floatation therapy means immersing yourself into a weightless orb of warm, buoyant water to feel your troubles fall away. The body-temperature water coupled with the exclusion of light and sound creates an environment that allows you to completely let go. In this space, your own healing wisdom can come to light and your body is able to rebalance.
History of Floatation Therapy
The first float tank was designed in 1954 by John C. Lilly, an American physician and neuroscientist. They were invented as a means for assessing brain activity in the absence of any external stimulation. In the 1970s, commercial float tanks were created and studies began to discover the possible health benefits of this therapy.
Today, Restricted Environment Stimulation Therapy (REST) floatation orbs have come into their own as an effective and highly enjoyable treatment for improving overall health, wellbeing and peace of mind.
The increase in popularity is partly due to scientific evidence that proves time in a floatation tank can improve muscle relaxation, sleep, pain, inflammation and decrease stress and anxiety.
What Happens in Floatation Therapy?
To simulate weightlessness, our state-of-the-art orb is filled with 700-800litres of water and heated to your body temperature.
We add approximately 500kg Epsom salts which is high in magnesium and allows your body to float.
Once inside the tank, all external simulation is removed and you can float in silence and darkness which enables your brain to enter into a deep, relaxed state.
We recommend complete silence, however, you can customise your floatation experience with -
Mood lighting
Starry ceiling
